Attract Clients Who Don't Go to the Gym With Body Weight Exercises

Many people are intimidated by the idea of going to the gym, spending money on something they are not sure if they are going to like, and they begin making excuses for themselves before they even start. Why? Because it’s safe and they believe they won’t be able to do it. It is our job as trainers and even marketers to change peoples minds and make them believe any one can change their lifestyle and get fit no matter how busy or out of shape they are.

Have you looked at the stats for your current website to see how many people are actually visiting your page each day? If that number is large, but your sales each day are not, we need to figure out why? All of the people visiting your page are potential customers because they clearly found you by searching for fitness and weight loss related topics, which means they have an interest in it.

Let’s take a look at the average person looking to lose weight.

Depending on their background and fitness level, the average person looking to lose weight and get fit might fall into one of these categories:

1. They may be intimidated by the gym and would prefer to workout at home. Many people feel they need to “get in better shape” from home before they even head to the gym? (Not sure why, but I hear this a lot.)

2. They don’t have time to make it to the gym due to kids, work, or other life commitments.

3. They have never used weights or tried weight training, so they’re scared to do so on their own.

The statements above might be quite a generalization, but for the purpose of this article, we will say that this could be the average person coming to your site and not making a purchase. Or at least a few potential customers that you could be losing out on.

How do we change this? Why not create a marketing plan or program to attract this specific segment of people.

Try coming up with a catchy title such as: “8 Week Body weight Home Workout series”  or the “Anti-Gym Workout Plan – No weights or equipment needed – just your own body and the determination to make a change“, or something along these lines! 😉

PRO TIP

If you haven’t already, film some new body weight exercises or take a look at the new updated videos Trainerize has added to their exercise library. Take some screen shots or paste examples of body weight exercises on your website and then talk about the “great results you can get from just using your body weight for exercise.” Perhaps write a few blog posts about how great body weight exercises are and add a link at the bottom to your “great online training body weight program”.

Let’s think outside the box. As trainers we have to remember that every one is different, but the fitness industry is booming and every one is a potential customer. We just have to make sure we have a way to attract each of those different people and not only help them reach their fitness goals, improve their health and feel great about themselves, but turn them into paying clients!
