How Trainerize, Fitbit, and MyFitnessPal Make Life Easier for Me and My Clients

Michelle Roots, Owner and Head Trainer at CORE Conditioning

I have been very busy in the past few months as Trainerize has been adding all of these new amazing features, but even though I knew all these updates were coming I really didn’t have the time to put them into action until now. Wow! Are all of you enjoying these new updates as much as I am?

I am going to speak just from my own experience how these new updates have immediately helped make both my life, and my clients lives, easier, in hopes that it will also help your online business flourish.

How I Use Trainerize with MyFitnessPal & Fitbit

myfitnesspal-stats-in-trainerizeEvery few months, I run either 21-day or 4-week challenges with my Trainerize app. The challenge is delivered completely online, and through social media and email marketing, I usually manage to get people to sign up from all over the world. In the past, I would have all of my challengers track their nutrition through MyFitnessPal, workouts through Trainerize, and then make them email me their pictures and measurements at both the start and the end of the challenge. I would have to get them to add me as a friend on MyFitnessPal so I could see their macro-nutrient split and calorie intake information. Not only was this a lot of work for me to get clients organized, but it was a lot of work for my clients to have to track and work in two different apps.

Not anymore! Now I have my clients track their food intake in MyFitnessPal, but now their daily calorie intake and macro-nutrient split is viewable in a pie chart in their Trainerize workout calendar. In the same place–if they have synced a Fitbit device–I can see their resting heart rate, and if they performed a cardio activity, I can see their calories burned in the workout.

How does this make my life easier?

I no longer have to look into their MyFitnessPal accounts; I can quickly look at a client’s workout calendar and see if they are completing their workouts, if they are eating the right amount of calories, and hitting their macros each day.

If they are not, I can just send them a quick message right from the Trainerize app, to give them a heads up and how they can fix it. Also, instead of having them email me all of their measurements and photos, I just have them upload them into the app, so again, it’s all in there for me to see, without having to organize them in a folder in my email inbox!

Editing Client Workouts on the Mobile App

Editing workouts on the mobile app is great for both my challengers, but also for my other online training clients, because as a busy trainer (as I’m sure you are, too), I don’t always have a chance to sit in front of the computer to edit workouts, but I do always have my phone with me!

Now I can immediately go into their profile on Trainerize and swap the exercise, change the instructions, or add an entirely new workout.

workouts-builder-trainerizeIf I have a quick break between clients, or sometimes if I’m warming up for my own workout on a spin bike, I can get this done. Sometimes you will get a message from a client saying a certain exercise in their workout “hurts their knees,” or is “too difficult,” or they don’t have access to a certain piece of equipment a workout calls for–and you need to change an exercise. I used to have to make a note in my to do list, and then try to remember to do it when I finally had a second to sit in front of my computer. Now I can immediately go into their profile on Trainerize and swap the exercise, change the instructions, or add an entirely new workout.
