Business GrowthSales and Marketing Do this great exercise to help you find your niche market!

If you are a fairly new trainer you might have not yet found your “niche” in the personal training world and might still be taking on client’s of many different fitness levels and an array of fitness goals.

Let’s do this little exercise:

Take a minute to sit down and analyze your current clientele:
What type of client make up the majority of your client base?
Who do you enjoy working with most?
Who have been your most successful client’s?

Do this great exercise to help you find your niche market!

What do I mean by client type? I mean:
Middle aged women looking for fat loss,elite/professional level athlete’s, young athlete’s, new mom’s looking to lose baby weight, brides looking to lean out and drop inches before their big day, middle aged men looking to get ripped like they were in their 20’s etc. etc..

You might find that you are great at training client’s from more than one niche market, it’s fine I am too (lol – confidence not cocky!); however, who is paying the most for your services? In the end we love our jobs, but we also love money right! We need to find the main type of client your training attracts and start roping in even more of them as this will be the bread and butter of your income.

Now once you know this specific group, why not target your marketing efforts and website design towards this group? For example, if the majority of your paying clients are middle aged women looking for fat loss you wouldn’t want to put a lot of pictures of athletes or big muscular men with veins popping.  Use images of females training and words that would attract a female to train with you such as “drop that baby weight”, “tone up for summer”, “speed up your metabolism”, “burn more calories lifting weights without bulking up” etc..

The biggest draw in my experience is using before and after images and testimonials from women (or whomever your niche market might be) who have had success in your program, as other women see that and they want it too!

Use your avenues of client referral and social media to spread word about your online training and once you draw them make sure your Trainerize site is all filled with attention grabbing ways to turn prospects into paying clients!
